[Saba Sports News] The England team landed in India on Monday as a marquee five-match Test series is set to be played between the two nations with the first game commencing in Hyderabad on January 25.
Ben Stokes and Co. arrived in Hyderabad yesterday, however, Shoaib Bashir is an exception. The off-spinner is yet get a clearance on his visa and he has been left stranded at the Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Reportedly, the Indian government and the BCCI are facilitating Bashir’s timely arrival in Hyderabad, where he will join the rest of the squad for the Test series versus India.
“Bash will join us hopefully tomorrow, he’s got a couple of issues with his visa coming through. We’re confident on the back of the help from the BCCI and the Indian government that it will sort itself out pretty quickly as well,” England Test head coach Brendon McCullum said as quoted.
Bashir is one of the four premier spinners in England’s squad. He is yet to make his debut in international cricket.
In some other news, Harry Brook has pulled out of the series citing personal reasons. Dan Lawrence has been picked as his replacement.
