Real Madrid sent two representatives to the hearing, including the club’s general manager Angel Sanchez, according to a representative of the residents’ association who told the EFE news agency. In his statement, Sanchez pointed out that the responsibility for exceeding the noise limit should be borne by the event organizers, as should compliance with the noise limit.
However, residents saw this statement by the club as a “red herring” and a “blame game”. They argue that Real Madrid itself, as the venue’s leasor, should be directly responsible for the noise problem, rather than blaming it on the event organisers. A representative of the residents’ association went so far as to describe the deniability as akin to “renting a nightclub in the expectation of holding prayers”.
In addition, the residents’ association submitted multiple studies provided by professional companies to the court, which showed that the noise level at the stadium exceeded the legal limit by 2,500 times. According to the relevant law, noise levels up to eight times the limit already pose a serious risk to health, but the actual levels are even more worrying.
