[Saba Sports News] Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Haris recently faced a setback when he was sent back from Dhaka airport after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) declined to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for his participation in the 2024 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The PCB’s decision was based on its policy restricting players from participating in more than two franchised league tournaments since July 2023, which Haris had already done.
Haris had taken a gamble by traveling to Bangladesh without securing the NOC. Following the PCB’s refusal, the board also did not cover his return travel expenses. As a gesture of professionalism, the BPL franchise Chattogram Challengers, whom Haris was to represent, paid for his return ticket to Pakistan.
In other news, Chattogram Challengers are focusing on their performance in the ongoing BPL 2024. Having played two matches so far, the team stands at fourth place with one win and one loss. They began with a victory against Sylhet Strikers but were defeated by Khulna Tigers in their second game. In this match, despite a top score of 40 runs by Shohidul Islam, the Challengers were only able to set a target of 121 runs, which the Tigers overcame with a four-wicket win.
Looking ahead, Chattogram Challengers are preparing to face Durdanto Dhaka at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on January 22, aiming for their second win of the season.
