[Saba Sports News] Manchester United
recently made an official announcement stating that Omar Berrada will assume
the position of the club’s new CEO. Omar Berrada currently serves as the chief
football operations officer at City Football Group, where he works closely with
Manchester City’s football director, Begiristain, on matters such as player
transfers and contract negotiations. Berrada played a role in the high-profile
signing of Erling Haaland. He boasts an impressive background in the football
industry, having spent eight years at Barcelona as a senior manager of media
business development and head of sponsorship. In 2011, he joined Manchester
City as the commercial director of the marketing department within the City
Football Group, and he was later promoted to the position of chief operating
officer at Manchester City in 2016. Last summer, several Premier League clubs,
several Major League Soccer teams, and an NFL commercial organization expressed
interest in recruiting Berrada as their CEO. However, he declined these offers.
With Berrada’s appointment, it is hoped that Manchester United will take their
first step towards regaining former glory.
