[Saba Sports News] Kiyan Anthony is continuing the family tradition in style.
Appearing on his father Carmelo Anthony’s podcast, 7PM in Brooklyn, that his son officially announced his college decision: he’s committing to Syracuse University, where his dad famously played and led the team to their only NCAA title in 2003.
“[I was] just looking at Syracuse and seeing what could be done over there,” Kiyan explained. “They already have top recruits I’m close with, a young coaching staff I connect with, and it’s close to home—a 45-minute flight. Plus, in the ACC, they play teams like Duke and [North] Carolina, all the top schools.”
Syracuse’s men’s basketball page on X wasted no time welcoming Kiyan with a celebratory post.
Kiyan, a four-star recruit and the No. 1 prospect in New York for the class of 2025, is a standout shooting guard. This spring, he averaged 19.6 points per game on the Nike EYBL circuit. After narrowing his college finalists to six this summer and two earlier this month, Syracuse emerged as the obvious choice.
Kiyan currently attends Christ the King High School in Queens, N.Y., and will play for Syracuse’s head coach Adrian Autry, who succeeded Jim Boeheim in 2023. Two decades after Carmelo’s legendary run, another Anthony is set to don the Orange jersey, keeping the family legacy alive.
