[Saba Sports News] According to Spanish media reports, Barcelona will receive approximately €3 million from FIFA as compensation for Ronald Araujo’s injury during the Copa America. Araujo was injured in early July during the Copa America and has been sidelined since, with Barcelona expecting him to return in mid-December for a match against Leganes, meaning the Uruguayan center-back will miss a total of 162 days. As a result, Barcelona will receive about €3 million in compensation, specifically €2,753,432. The insurance is based on the principle that if a player participating in international matches or national teams is injured due to an accident and is unable to play for more than 28 days, FIFA will provide compensation based on the player’s fixed salary. The insurance period begins the moment they enter the national team’s training camp and ends at midnight on the day they complete their national team matches, even extending 48 hours after they leave the national team. FIFA’s insurance plan pays clubs up to €7.5 million for each incident involving a player, calculated at a maximum of €20,548 per day, for a maximum of 365 days. The maximum capacity or total limit of FIFA’s club protection program is €80 million per year, covering globally until the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup.
