[Saba Sports News] The Golden State Warriors are facing challenges in the 2023-24 season, holding an 18-22 record. Amidst trade rumors, Shams Charania reported that all Warriors players, except Stephen Curry, are potentially on the trade block. Draymond Green addressed these rumors on his podcast, “The Draymond Green Show.”
Green commented, “If that [trade] ever came to fruition, you deal with it when it happens. It’s not a concern for me. Given our 18-22 record, any decision made by the team shouldn’t be questioned.” He acknowledged that in light of the team’s disappointing performance, even key players like himself and Klay Thompson could be considered for trades.
Green’s season has been impacted by multiple suspensions, limiting him to 16 games with averages of 9.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.7 assists. Thompson’s performance has also been below his usual standard, averaging 17.3 points and modest contributions in other statistical areas. Green suggested that if the team decides to trade them, they must accept it as part of the business.
Regarding potential trade targets for the Warriors, Pascal Siakam was a name in consideration. However, Siakam has been traded from the Toronto Raptors to the Indiana Pacers. Reports suggest Siakam wasn’t keen on joining the Warriors and didn’t plan to stay if traded there, highlighting a shift in the desirability of playing for Golden State.
Steve Kerr, the Warriors’ head coach, doesn’t view the 2023-24 season as the end of the Warriors’ successful era. Despite current struggles, he believes in the capability of Curry, Green, and Thompson to perform at high levels, though questions remain about Green and Thompson’s current form.
