[Saba Sports News] Cadillac F1 Team is set to enter F1 in 2026 but needs a power unit. Yesterday, the new director of Cadillac F1 Team, Mario Andretti, confirmed that the team is negotiating an engine agreement with Ferrari. Cadillac initially planned to use Renault’s power unit, but due to Renault’s withdrawal from the engine project, Cadillac had to seek other options. The Sauber team will transition to Audi from 2026 and use Audi’s power unit, leaving Ferrari with an open customer slot. For Cadillac, Ferrari has become the best choice. In an interview with NBC News, when asked if the project considered other engine suppliers, Andretti firmly said “no,” stating that collaborating with Ferrari is their primary goal. If they cannot reach an agreement with Ferrari, F1 rules have a mechanism that requires the power unit supplier with the fewest customers to agree to supply engines to Cadillac. At that time, Cadillac would only be able to use Audi or Honda’s power units.
