[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, David Beckham’s
business team is preparing to take legal action against those involved in
selling counterfeit Beckham-branded clothing and perfume. Beckham, who is
currently a director of DB Ventures, the company that oversees his various
lucrative businesses including fragrances, clothing, and accessories, is
seeking damages of up to £1.58 million from each counterfeiter. DB Ventures,
supported by its rights management company Authentic Brands Group, is leading
the charge in the legal battle against counterfeiters. In January 2022, Beckham
sold 55% of the DBV brand to Authentic Brands Group for £200 million. Authentic
Brands Group also owns fashion brands like Juicy Couture and Forever 21. It’s
worth noting that Beckham is not the only celebrity fighting against copyright
infringement and pursuing legal action against counterfeiters. Rapper Kanye
West has previously sued Walmart, accusing the retailer of selling knockoff
versions of his Yeezy shoe brand. The intention behind Beckham’s legal battle
is to protect the integrity of his brand and ensure that consumers receive
authentic products bearing his name. Counterfeit goods not only harm the
reputation and revenue of the brand but also deceive customers who expect to
purchase genuine merchandise.
