[Saba Sports News] TNT Sports and Discovery Plus have acquired the broadcasting rights for the much-awaited England Test tour of India, alleviating concerns over whether the series would be shown in the UK. With just a week before the series start, it was uncertain who would secure the UK broadcasting rights. Disney was reportedly nearing a deal, but Sky Sports, the usual holder of rights for cricket in the UK since 2006, was not in contention.

Channel 4 had aired the 2020/21 series, reintroducing Test cricket to free-to-air TV in the UK. There were hopes for a similar arrangement this time. However, TNT Sports, formerly known as BT Sports, stepped in. They’ve been making significant strides in UK cricket broadcasting, having secured deals to showcase cricket from Australia, New Zealand, and the Caribbean. This new deal with TNT Sports will cover all international series played in India for the next five years, including England men’s tours in 2025 and 2028, but it excludes the Indian Premier League.
Discovery Plus will serve as the streaming platform for the series, while TNT Sports will broadcast it on television. Additionally, talkSPORT has obtained the radio rights for the series, featuring David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd as a commentator.
