[Saba Sports News] Former F1 team principal and Zhou Guanyu’s manager, Graeme Lowdon, has been a key figure in General Motors’ preparations to enter F1. On the eve of the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, GM announced the appointment of Lowdon as the team principal of Cadillac’s F1 team. Lowdon has previously served as the CEO of Virgin/Marussia/Manor F1 teams and brought the Manor name to the World Endurance Championship. This 59-year-old Brit was involved in GM’s bid for F1, led by Mario Andretti, but unfortunately, it did not succeed. Earlier this year, Andretti withdrew from the project, transferring control to major shareholder TWG Global. After the new CEO, Dan Towriss, took over, he was primarily responsible for revising GM’s proposal, which ultimately gained approval from the FIA and F1, establishing it as the 11th team in F1. In addition to helping Cadillac enter F1, Lowdon has always been part of Zhou Guanyu’s close circle. With Lowdon’s promotion to Cadillac’s new team principal, Zhou’s hopes of returning to F1 in 2026 have significantly increased.
