[Saba Sports News] New Zealand driver Liam Lawson believes he is “ready” to go head-to-head with Max Verstappen. Previously, reports suggested that Lawson could be promoted to the Red Bull F1 team in the 2025 season to replace Sergio Perez. During the media day for the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Lawson explained in an interview why working alongside Verstappen would be “the best situation” for him. He stated that in many ways, Verstappen is the best driver in the starting grid. Having the chance to learn directly from the top driver is a rare opportunity. After every race, he can access Verstappen’s data to see how he performed. For a newcomer to F1, this is invaluable. With this data, Lawson believes his performance will improve. Lawson is a junior driver for the Red Bull team and previously filled in for the injured Daniel Ricciardo during the 2023 season, earning his first points in his third F1 race.
