[Saba Sports News] Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner admitted that the team re-signed Sergio Perez early this year in an attempt to alleviate the Mexican driver’s concerns, but “it didn’t work.” Red Bull Racing is expected to announce its driver lineup for 2025 next week, with increasing speculation that they may drop Perez in favor of young drivers Liam Lawson or Yuki Tsunoda. Perez has stood on the podium four times in the first five races of the season. Based on his strong start, the Red Bull team extended Perez’s contract to the end of 2026 in June to help stabilize his mindset. However, since signing the new contract, Perez’s performance has declined and has not developed as the team had hoped. In an interview, Horner stated that Perez is working very hard and must be recognized for his contributions to the team this year. Although Perez’s development has not met expectations, life is sometimes like this. When asked if Red Bull has already decided on the driver to partner with Verstappen in 2025, Horner said the team is fortunate to have a huge talent pool.
