[Saba Sports News] Los Angeles Clippers coach Tyronn Lue poured cold water on rumors suggesting Kawhi Leonard might return to action before Christmas.
When asked about the speculation on Saturday, Lue expressed skepticism and emphasized there’s no set timetable for Leonard’s return.
“I don’t know. Who said that?” Lue responded, addressing the rumors sparked by Bill Simmons, who cited his “Clippers guy” as a source of the pre-Christmas buzz.
According to Lue, Leonard is still progressing through individual shooting drills and ramping up his activity, but there’s no indication he’s close to rejoining the lineup.
Leonard has yet to play this season due to persistent inflammation in his right knee, an absence that has lasted longer than the Clippers likely anticipated.
The Clippers have managed a 14-10 record without Leonard, keeping their season on solid ground. However, the ongoing uncertainty surrounding his return adds to the concern.
While his eventual comeback would undoubtedly elevate the team, when that happens remains a mystery.
