[Saba Sports News] On Tuesday night, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers and Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets faced off in a thrilling regular-season game. Embiid played a stellar game, scoring 41 points along with 7 rebounds and 10 assists, leading the Sixers to a 126-121 victory against the Nuggets. Jokic, the reigning NBA Finals MVP, also put up impressive numbers with 25 points and 19 rebounds.
Despite often being compared by fans and media, Embiid and Jokic showed a sign of mutual admiration post-game. Embiid whispered a message to Jokic, later shared during an interview with Allie LaForce. Embiid expressed his respect for Jokic, acknowledging him as “the best player in the league,” citing his championship win and MVP status. He encouraged Jokic to continue his excellent performance.
While the Sixers and Nuggets, being in separate conferences, haven’t clashed in the Finals, Embiid has a 6-2 head-to-head regular season record against Jokic. Having dethroned Jokic as the league’s MVP last season, Embiid is also aiming to surpass him as an NBA champion.
