[Saba Sports News] In the match between West Ham United and Southampton, West Ham goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski collided with an opponent and sustained a serious head injury, requiring a stretcher to be carried off. During the first half of the match, the 39-year-old goalkeeper collided with Southampton defender Nathan Wood’s elbow and subsequently fell to the ground, unable to get up. Medical personnel quickly entered the field. Fabianski received seven minutes of treatment while his teammates gathered around him with concern. Ultimately, he was substituted due to the head injury and was carried off the field on a stretcher. After Fabianski fell injured, the broadcast by Amazon did not show any replay of the incident, instead switching the camera away. After the match, West Ham coach Julen Lopetegui stated, “Fabianski has a concussion. He is doing well; I spoke with him, and the doctors are optimistic. We were worried, but fortunately, the doctors informed us that his injury is not very serious, thank goodness.” We hope Fabianski makes a speedy recovery and returns to the field.
