As the Sacramento Kings continue their losing streak, trade rumors surrounding De’Aaron Fox are gaining momentum.
ESPN’s Tim MacMahon shared on “The Hoop Collective” podcast that the Houston Rockets are a team to watch for a potential trade involving the Kings star. He also highlighted interest from the Miami Heat, where Fox’s former college teammate Bam Adebayo plays, and the Los Angeles Lakers, given Fox’s ties to Klutch Sports.
Additionally, MacMahon reiterated previous reports linking the San Antonio Spurs as a potential destination for Fox.
The 27-year-old Fox, a rare homegrown All-Star for the Kings and their longest-tenured player, has been at the center of trade buzz recently.
Sacramento’s disappointing 13-18 record (12th in the Western Conference) has fueled speculation, further intensified by reports of a recent meeting between Fox’s agent, Rich Paul, and Kings management regarding the team’s future direction.
Fox is averaging 26.2 points and 6.1 assists per game this season and is under contract for $34.8 million this year and $37.1 million next year. His contract may favor asset-rich, lower-payroll teams like the Spurs or Rockets, but high-payroll teams such as the Heat or Lakers could face challenges navigating his long-term financial commitments.
As the Kings struggle to gain traction, Fox’s availability could become a key storyline as the trade deadline approaches.
