At 30 years old, Wang Yilu is part of the Zhejiang badminton team, like Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong. In his youth, Wang Yilu partnered with Huang Dongping in mixed doubles competitions. During the Tokyo Olympic cycle, the combinations of Wang Yilu/Huang Dongping and Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong were referred to by Chinese media as “double insurance,” helping the Chinese badminton team secure all mixed doubles championships.
