[Saba Sports News] Draymond Green appears to be stirring up another feud, this time with Memphis Grizzlies rookie center Zach Edey. The Golden State Warriors forward clashed with Edey during the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game in a heated exchange that left tensions high.
The incident began as the two battled for position on a rebound, which Edey secured. When Edey attempted a follow-up shot, Green delivered a hard foul, keeping Edey hooked on the follow-through.
Frustrated, Edey shoved Green to free himself, and Green responded with a push of his own before teammates intervened to separate them.
Officials reviewed the play and assessed Green with a flagrant-1 foul, awarding Memphis two free throws and possession.
After Edey missed one of the flagrant free throws, Green taunted him by shouting, “Ball don’t lie!” Moments later, Green nailed a three-pointer and celebrated with a showboating gesture directed at the referee, earning a technical foul 33 seconds after the initial incident.
The Warriors ultimately secured a 121-113 victory, but the animosity between Green and Edey was palpable. The tension dates back to November when Green was retroactively assessed a flagrant foul for intentionally tripping Edey during another Warriors-Grizzlies matchup.
Saturday’s game, their second meeting since the initial incident, showed that the bad blood is far from resolved.
With their on-court clashes escalating, it seems this budding rivalry could be one to watch as the season unfolds.
