[Saba Sports News] With a high playoff seed within reach, the New York Knicks are exploring roster tweaks to stay competitive.
According to Stefan Bondy of the *New York Post*, the Knicks are actively shopping center Jericho Sims ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline. Bondy reports that the 26-year-old Sims is currently “being shopped” by the team.
Sims, drafted by the Knicks in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft, has shown flashes of potential with his athleticism and 6-foot-10 frame, particularly in a thin frontcourt. However, his role has diminished this season. He’s averaging career lows of 1.7 points in 11.6 minutes per game, as the Knicks rely heavily on starting center Karl-Anthony Towns and Precious Achiuwa for minutes at the 5. Sims hasn’t been a regular part of the rotation for about a month.
The 26-15 Knicks could also see the return of another center from injury soon, further squeezing Sims out of the lineup. With free agency looming for Sims at the end of the season, it appears the Knicks see him as the odd man out.
