An Se-young achieved a remarkable feat at the recently concluded Malaysian Open
women’s singles event. In the final, she defeated Tai Tzu-Ying with a score of
10-21, 21-10, 21-18. By clinching the championship, An Se-young set a record
with her achievement. She has become the first singles player in Korean history
to win the championship at this particular event. Moreover, she has triumphed
in all four major Super 1000 series tournaments, including the China Open
(2023), Indonesia Open (2021), and All England Open (2023), making her the
first-ever player in women’s singles history to achieve this feat. An Se-young
gained recognition at a young age and was selected for the South Korean
national team while still in middle school, making her the first middle school
student in history to earn such a distinction. Currently, she holds the top
ranking in women’s singles badminton worldwide.
