[Saba Sports News] DJ Khaled was among just 23 lucky individuals to receive a special edition Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “Bred” package from Michael Jordan himself. Overjoyed, Khaled shared an elaborate unboxing video on Instagram.
The reveal was more than just a sneaker drop—it was a full-on promotional spectacle. Khaled received a locked wooden box and had to call Jordan to unlock it. The key? The year 1985—the very year the Air Jordan 1 first hit the market.
This exclusive sneaker package is just the tip of the iceberg. On February 14, 2025, Jordan Brand is set to release the Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “Bred,” marking the most accurate reissue of the original yet.
With fewer than 10,000 pairs available in just 23 U.S. stores, sneakerheads will have to battle for a chance to snag a pair. Retail prices? $250 for men’s sizes and $75 for toddlers.
Khaled’s VIP treatment comes as no surprise. He and Jordan share a close bond, with the two embracing at the 2022 Miami Grand Prix.
Khaled even collaborated with Jordan Brand on the We The Best x Air Jordan 5 Collection. And if there’s one thing he values as much as his music, it’s his sneakers—so much so that in 2024, he famously had his security carry him to the stage just to keep his Jordans pristine.
Khaled isn’t the only one to receive this rare package—rapper Fabolous is another fortunate recipient.
Jordan Brand has gone all out with marketing for this release, reactivating the iconic “banned” Air Jordan 1 ad, deactivating its social media accounts, and even orchestrating a stunt where the Chicago Bulls “banned” the shoes on Jordan’s statue at the United Center.
Of course, the campaign plays fast and loose with history. The original NBA ban in 1984 targeted the Nike Air Ship, not the Air Jordan 1. And the shoes “banned” on the statue? They’re actually Air Jordan 9s. But when it comes to marketing, Jordan Brand knows that legend often sells better than reality.
One thing’s for sure—this drop is shaping up to be one of the biggest sneaker events in years.
