[Saba Sports News] Dallas Mavericks fans held a “day of mourning” on Sunday in response to the shocking trade of Luka Doncic, with some devastated supporters getting particularly creative in expressing their frustration.
A group of Mavs fans gathered outside American Airlines Arena to protest the blockbuster deal that sent Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis as part of a three-team trade. While Davis is a 10-time All-Star, many Dallas supporters saw him as nothing more than a consolation prize.
Some fans took the protest to another level—literally treating it like a funeral. Dressed in black suits, a group carried an actual coffin, with one playing Wiz Khalifa’s *See You Again* while others dramatically wept and screamed, “Whyyyyyyy?!” Meanwhile, others stuck to a more traditional approach, chanting, “Sell the team!”
The Doncic-Davis trade was so shocking that many initially questioned whether the report was real. Even now, it’s hard to grasp why the Mavericks pulled the trigger on the deal, and Dallas fans are reacting just as you’d expect.
