[Saba Sports News] South Korean badminton men’s doubles star Seo Seung Jae, known as the “King of Versatility,” will team up again with Kim Wonho for European tournaments, including the All England Championships. Previously, Seo partnered with KANG Minhyuk to win the men’s doubles championship at the 2023 World Badminton Championships, but due to KANG’s military service, Seo switched to partner with Kim Wonho. The two reunited after five years and won the Super 1000 Malaysia Open last month, later finishing as runners-up at the Super 750 India Open, losing to the Malaysian duo Goh Szefei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani. Surprisingly, the Korean Badminton Association has been trying different combinations, and Seo partnered with Yong Jin to compete in the Super 500 Indonesia Masters and the Super 300 Thailand Masters. Although they were eliminated in the first round of the Indonesia tournament, they emerged victorious in Thailand. Reportedly, this is Seo’s second title with Yong Jin; their last partnership won the China Masters Championship in November last year. However, the talented Yong Jin was unfortunately not included in any of the European tournament rosters. Since November last year, Korean men’s doubles have been “changing cards” with every tournament. This strategy by the Korean Badminton Association aims to prepare for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, hoping to pair the most competitive men’s doubles combinations.
