[Saba Sports News] Lille midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has been cleared to return to football this week, eight months after suffering a cardiac arrest during a five-a-side match. Bentaleb has revealed that his former Tottenham Hotspur teammate Christian Eriksen has been a great help to him over the past few months. Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest during the Denmark vs. Finland match at the Euro 2020 and made a return to the pitch less than a year later, signing with Brentford and later joining Manchester United. Nabil Bentaleb is now following in Eriksen’s footsteps and hopes to return to the pitch soon. After receiving medical clearance, he returned to training on Thursday, but a return date has yet to be confirmed. Bentaleb stated, “Life has its ups and downs, and so does the mental aspect. I found another side of myself, another form of mental strength. Of course, there were doubts. I have worked hard over the past eight months to find my inner strength. I haven’t slept well for eight months; I’ve been working hard to recover. I have communicated with Eriksen, and he has given me great help. Everything is still a bit unclear, but he helped me and reminded me of what could happen.”
