[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Everton opened their new stadium for a test run on Monday, where Wigan Athletic U18 player Harrison Rimmer scored the first goal at the new venue. As a Liverpool fan, Rimmer taunted Everton fans after scoring. The new stadium is not yet officially operational and requires two to three rounds of trial runs. The first match at the new stadium took place on Monday, featuring Everton U18 vs. Wigan Athletic U18. Everton U18 hoped to achieve a winning start at their new ground but ended up losing 1-2. Furthermore, Wigan Athletic U18’s Harrison Rimmer scored the first goal in the new stadium and celebrated by raising six fingers, indicating that Everton’s arch-rival Liverpool has won six UEFA Champions League titles. It is reported that Rimmer has been a Liverpool fan since childhood. The Everton first team cannot yet play at the new stadium, which will undergo a second trial run in a month, with Everton U21 scheduled for a friendly match there. A third trial run is expected to take place later in the season, at which point the stadium will be close to opening all its seats (52,888). For this match, only about 25,000 seats were opened at Everton’s new stadium.
