[Saba Sports News] Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney left Plymouth last month and made his debut as a commentator for Amazon Prime during the first leg of the Champions League playoff between Manchester City and Real Madrid. The 39-year-old Rooney previously worked for Sky Sports and BBC Sport, so he has experience in this role, and his candid opinions have garnered much appreciation. Although Amazon is set to lose Premier League rights, they will continue to broadcast the Champions League until 2027, allowing Rooney to remain a football commentator on this streaming platform. However, Rooney is still deciding on his career’s next steps; in a previous interview with Gary Neville, he expressed a desire to continue coaching. This week, Rooney traveled to Dubai to coach some local children, with Michael Owen and Mark Noble also participating in the event. Notably, Rooney’s debut commentary for Amazon was well-received, where he humorously referenced his two hair transplants during heavy rain at the Manchester City vs. Real Madrid match, wishing the rain would stop so his hair wouldn’t suffer, and his humorous approach received unanimous acclaim.
