[Saba Sports News] Agent Zero could soon be making the jump to primetime television.
Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas revealed during a recent YouTube livestream that he is in discussions with NBC about a broadcasting job. The timing aligns with NBC’s return to NBA coverage for the 2025-26 season, marking the network’s first time airing NBA games in nearly 25 years.
“I had a meeting with NBC,” Arenas said, per Awful Announcing. “They’re doing their show for next season … and they’re still auditioning and interviewing other guests that could be a part of the show. So I had my meeting, and the perspective that they’re coming from is crazy.”
Arenas, 43, acknowledged that even if he doesn’t land the job, he’s grateful to be in the running. “The fact that I’m even in the discussion, that someone brought me up for an 8 o’clock meeting, I’m really grateful for that,” he added.
NBC’s NBA coverage is still taking shape, but Arenas is likely being considered for their upcoming studio show, which could serve as a counterpart to TNT’s ‘Inside the NBA’ or ESPN’s ‘NBA Countdown’.
The network has already recruited a 10-time NBA All-Star for their studio team, and now Arenas, a three-time All-Star, could be next in line.
Since retiring from the NBA in 2012, Arenas has made a name for himself in media as the host of “Gil’s Arena”, a YouTube show produced by Underdog Fantasy Sports.
Known for his humorous and outspoken takes, Arenas has both entertained and stirred controversy over the years. If NBC brings him aboard, there’s no doubt his presence will draw attention – for better or worse
