[Saba Sports News] As Audi’s F1 team prepares to officially enter the circuit in 2026, this German automotive giant is actively planning how to compete with established teams like Mercedes and Ferrari on the F1 stage. Audi F1 chief Mattia Binotto recently hinted that Audi might form alliances with other teams to enhance its influence in F1 decision-making. Binotto, who worked for Ferrari for nearly thirty years, understands the rules of the political game in F1 well. In an interview with a German sports magazine, he revealed that F1 teams need political alliances to succeed. Currently, several teams are not allied, and if these teams could unite, it would be very beneficial. F1 has three major giants: Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull, which have all secured important positions on the circuit through customer teams or technical partnerships. For instance, Mercedes supplies power units to McLaren, Alpine, and Williams, while Ferrari works closely with Haas, and Red Bull expands its influence through its junior team, AlphaTauri. These “alliances” grant the three major teams greater say in significant F1 decisions. Some fans have noted that while Binotto did not specify particular teams, his comments undoubtedly reveal Audi F1’s future strategic direction.
