[Saba Sports News] After a wait of 1,567 days, the case concerning the death of Argentine football legend Diego Armando Maradona is set to go to trial, where the court will determine whether seven medical staff members acted improperly. Although the case is currently classified as “intentional manslaughter,” the attorney Fernando Brando representing the case claims that what happened to Maradona was murder. In a media interview, Brando stated, “All the medical personnel failed to fulfill their professional duties; it is clear that this is a murder. At that time, only one phone call was needed—whether from a doctor, coordinator, or anyone to call for an ambulance to take him to any emergency room could have saved his life.” Brando further revealed, “Upon analysis, I found that this so-called ‘professional home treatment’ was a scam from the very beginning. They abused Maradona with drugs as if he were an animal rather than a human, deceiving the family by saying that closed treatment was better, and they didn’t even allow basic visits. Maradona wanted to see his family but was denied.” It is reported that at the time, all doors and windows of Maradona’s house were sealed. According to medical regulations, if Maradona was unwilling to receive treatment, the medical personnel should have accepted that rather than fabricating medical records. Additionally, recorded conversations showed that the medical staff insulted Maradona.
