[Saba Sports News] It seemed like the feud between LeBron James and Stephen A. Smith was finally simmering down — but now, it’s starting to feel like we’re just one step away from a celebrity boxing match.
The drama began back on March 6, when LeBron confronted Smith courtside during the Knicks-Lakers game. James was visibly upset over the way Smith had been covering his son, Bronny. While Smith has eagerly talked about the confrontation — for obvious reasons — LeBron had mostly stayed quiet.
That changed during a Wednesday appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, where LeBron joked that Smith was on “a Taylor Swift tour run” with all the attention and said Smith completely missed the real reason for his frustration.
Naturally, Smith jumped at the chance to fire back. On his podcast later that same day, he claimed — with a straight face — that he was ready to swing on LeBron if things had escalated.
“If that man would’ve put his hands on me, I would’ve immediately swung on him. Immediately,” Smith declared.
That was too much for LeBron to ignore. He responded by posting a video on Instagram of Smith sparring — and let’s just say, the footage didn’t exactly scream “ready for LeBron in the ring.” Smith looked more like a debate team captain than a heavyweight contender.
As LeBron pointed out on McAfee’s show, Smith is milking this feud for all it’s worth. And honestly, LeBron is helping him do it. Smith’s ability to drive headlines and ratings is a big part of why he landed a massive new deal at ESPN.
The more LeBron engages, the more fuel gets added to the fire — and no one’s enjoying that more than Stephen A. himself.
