[Saba Sports News] Thierry Henry, the French
football legend, recently discussed the reasons behind his retirement in a
media interview. He revealed that his decision to retire was not solely based
on age but also due to injuries that had begun affecting him even in everyday
activities, such as playing with his daughter. Henry shared, “For over 10
years, I had issues with Achilles tendons in both legs. The pain would persist
throughout the day. At that point, I knew my playing career had come to an end,
despite my desire to continue.” Throughout his playing career, Henry
achieved remarkable success, earning numerous honors including major cup
championships, league championships, the Club World Cup, World Cup, European
Championship, and Champions League titles. He is regarded as a football Grand
Slam winner and is the sixth player to exceed 100 appearances for the French
national team. Following his retirement, Henry embarked on a coaching career.
He has previously coached Monaco Football Club in Ligue 1 and the Montreal
Impact Football Club in Major League Soccer (MLS). Currently, he serves as the
coach of the French U21 national team.
