[Saba Sports News] Ja Morant made headlines again on Tuesday—for reasons that could land him back in hot water.
Late in the game between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Golden State Warriors at FedEx Forum, Morant appeared to make a shotgun-like gesture toward the Warriors’ bench. With his arms extended, he mimicked firing a shotgun—an act that caught the attention of several players.
Buddy Hield responded by playfully mimicking it back, while Draymond Green reacted by gesturing toward the officials in protest.
The Grizzlies ultimately fell 134-125, with Steph Curry torching Memphis for 52 points. Morant finished with 36 in the loss.
While the gesture might have gone unnoticed in another context, Morant’s history makes it especially concerning. He has previously faced significant consequences for gun-related behavior, including an eight-game suspension in March 2023 after appearing with a firearm on social media, and a 25-game suspension that June for a similar incident. He was also accused of threatening a teenager with a gun during a pickup game at his home.
This isn’t the first time Morant has made a gun-like gesture on the court either—he did so after an alley-oop dunk back in December 2023.
Given the pattern, it wouldn’t be surprising if the NBA reviews Morant’s latest incident closely.
