[Saba Sports News] Anthony Edwards didn’t wait for tipoff to start firing verbal shots at Luka Doncic.
Before Tuesday’s Game 2 against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Minnesota Timberwolves star made headlines for crossing the court during warmups to talk trash to Doncic. The exchange looked lighthearted, with both players walking away smiling, but it added fuel to an already charged series.
Edwards had the upper hand in Game 1, leading the Timberwolves to a 117-95 win with 22 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists — and even taunting Doncic as the game wound down.
But Doncic has gotten the better of Edwards before. Last postseason, he led the Dallas Mavericks past Minnesota in the Western Conference Finals in five games, including hitting one of the defining shots of the playoffs.
Both players are known for their elite trash talk — Edwards famously goes at everyone, even his childhood idols, while Doncic dishes it out to players and courtside fans alike.
Their ongoing banter adds an entertaining subplot to this first-round clash between Minnesota’s rising stars and the battle-tested Lakers.
