[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Aston Villa has refused Tottenham Hotspur’s request to adjust the schedule for their Europa League match, arguing it only benefits Tottenham unilaterally and disrupts their own plans. The Premier League match between Aston Villa and Tottenham originally scheduled for May 18th might be postponed, but Aston Villa is opposing this decision and has submitted its concerns to the Premier League. In a statement released on Sunday, Tottenham expressed that they are discussing the adjustment of the match date with the Premier League. Currently, Tottenham have advanced to the semi-finals of the Europa League and will face Norwegian team Bodo/Glimt. The Europa League final is set for May 21st, three days after the planned Aston Villa match. For Aston Villa, this match against Tottenham will mark their final home game of the season. Due to the possibility of moving the match to midweek, the club is concerned that changing the date may reduce the gap between games and disrupt their preparation for key matches aimed at securing European qualification. Given this, Aston Villa explicitly opposes adjusting the match date, stating that it would unilaterally benefit Tottenham while disrupting their season plan.
