[Saba Sports News] NBA insider Marc Stein recently reported that Steve Nash will join Amazon’s NBA coverage starting in the 2025-26 season, reuniting him with former Dallas Mavericks teammate Dirk Nowitzki, who is also set to join the streaming platform.
Following the announcement, Nowitzki posted a hilarious reaction on X (formerly Twitter), poking fun at the reunion by referencing their playing days together.
“Now I have to carry this guy again like I did over 25 years ago…” Nowitzki joked.
Fans quickly jumped into the comments, loving the playful jab.
“Dirk with the killshot out of nowhere,” one user wrote.
Another quipped, “This is the greatest Mavs-related post on this app in the last 8 weeks…thank you Dirk!” — a subtle nod to the recent controversy surrounding the Mavericks’ shocking trade of Luka Doncic.
While Nowitzki and Nash never won a title together, they were one of the NBA’s most dynamic duos during their time in Dallas, drawing comparisons to legendary pairings like John Stockton and Karl Malone from the 1990s Utah Jazz.
Amazon, which recently secured a portion of the NBA’s broadcasting rights in a high-profile bidding war, has been stacking its coverage team, adding notable names like reporter Taylor Rooks and commentator Stan Van Gundy alongside Nash and Nowitzki.
It remains to be seen whether the former Mavericks stars can recreate their on-court chemistry in the broadcast booth — but for fans, seeing them together again is already a major win.
