The New York Knicks star delivered a playoff dagger in Game 6 of their first-round series Thursday at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, dropping 40 points and hitting a cold-blooded, go-ahead three with 4.3 seconds left to break a 113-113 tie. Using a slick crossover on Ausar Thompson to create space, Brunson drained the clutch shot that sealed a 4-2 series win for the Knicks and ended Detroit’s season.
Brunson, recently named the NBA’s Clutch Player of the Year, added another iconic moment to his résumé—and earned a rare broadcast honor in the process. As longtime Knicks broadcaster and ESPN voice Mike Breen called the play, fans were treated to the elusive double “Bang!”—a signature reserved only for the most legendary postseason moments.
