With the Pistons trailing by three in the final seconds, Beasley let a crucial pass slip through his hands and out of bounds, effectively sealing a 116-113 win — and the series — for the Knicks. The blunder ended any hope Detroit had of tying the game and forcing overtime.
Beasley had added fuel to the fire with pregame comments claiming the Pistons were the “mentally stronger team,” which made his late-game gaffe especially ripe for fan ridicule.
Despite his strong shooting night — 6-of-13 from deep and 41.6% from three during the regular season — Beasley never got the chance to take the potential game-tying shot. The catch he couldn’t make ended up being the one that defined the night.
