[Saba Sports News] The second-round playoff battle between the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves is quickly shaping up to be a war of attrition.
Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards exited Thursday’s Game 2 after suffering a painful ankle injury in the second quarter at Target Center in Minneapolis.
While attacking the basket, Edwards went down hard, and Warriors center Trayce Jackson-Davis — attempting to block the shot — inadvertently stepped on Edwards’ left ankle as he landed.
Edwards immediately clutched his ankle in visible pain and was helped to the locker room by training staff, unable to put weight on the injured leg. The Timberwolves later announced he was questionable to return with a left ankle sprain.
The incident sparked an outpouring of concern from fans on social media, with many worried about Edwards’ long-term availability and others pointing out the growing list of injuries already affecting the series — including Steph Curry’s hamstring strain.
Minnesota led 56-39 at halftime, but Edwards’ injury casts a shadow over the rest of the series. With games nearly every other day and the Timberwolves already trailing 1-0, any extended absence for their star guard could be a major blow to their playoff hopes.
