[Saba Sports News] On May 11, the 2025 Chinese Taipei Open Badminton Championships concluded. The host team, Chinese Taipei, clinched two championships and one runner-up title, emerging as the biggest winner. In the men’s singles final, Loh Kean Yew defeated Chou Tien-Chen 21-14, 15-21, 22-20 to win the championship. This victory marks his second title after winning the 2024 Spanish Open (Super300). Apart from his victory at the 2021 World Badminton Championships, Loh has yet to secure a championship in Super750 or higher-level events, indicating the intense competition on the men’s singles circuit. In a post-match interview, Chou Tien-Chen stated that he is now 35 years old and continues to compete with the goal of winning an Olympic medal. Therefore, he plans to play until the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, hoping to fulfill his dream and close his career on a high note. Chou also mentioned that it has been 13 years since his first participation in the Taipei Open. Reflecting on the past, he admitted that he likely never imagined he could still be competing at this level. Although he didn’t bring home the championship this time, he expressed gratitude to all his supporters who came to cheer him on.
