[Saba Sports News] Tyrese Haliburton just earned a major endorsement from none other than LeBron James.
Haliburton delivered another standout performance on Tuesday, leading the Indiana Pacers to a series-clinching Game 5 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In the second-round matchup at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, Haliburton dropped 31 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including six three-pointers, while adding six rebounds and eight assists. The 114-105 road win punched Indiana’s ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals for the second consecutive year.
Following the game, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James took to X to give Haliburton his flowers.
“Hali fkn hooping!!!!” James wrote. “Where the lames who said he was overrated??!! Quiet as hell. That boy NICE and even more someone everyone would love to play with! @mindthegamepod”
James was referencing an earlier NBA players’ poll that named Haliburton the league’s most overrated player — a label the Pacers star has clearly taken to heart. Haliburton and his team have used the criticism as fuel, culminating in an upset over the 64-win top-seeded Cavaliers in just five games.
Cleveland fans even taunted Haliburton with “overrated” chants during the series, but true basketball minds — including James — know just how elite the young guard really is. The two were teammates on Team USA during the gold medal-winning run at the Paris Olympics, and LeBron’s latest praise reinforces Haliburton’s growing status among the league’s elite.
