[Saba Sports News] Social media didn’t hold back on Jamal Murray after his rough showing in the Denver Nuggets’ must-win Game 7 on Sunday.
Murray struggled mightily in the 125-93 blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, shooting just 6-of-16 from the field and 1-of-8 from three. He finished with only 13 points, two assists, and two turnovers.
The performance quickly made Murray a target online, with fans calling out his failure to step up in a high-pressure moment—especially given his reputation as a clutch performer during Denver’s 2023 championship run. Many even mocked the idea, claiming Murray only shows up against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Murray averaged 26.1 points per game during the 2023 playoffs and dropped 23.6 per game in the first round this year against the Lakers. But in the 21 playoff games since, he’s averaged closer to 21 points while shooting around 43% from the floor.
After signing a lucrative new deal last September, Murray is viewed as a core piece next to Nikola Jokic. But based on this postseason, critics say the Nuggets need far more from their co-star when it matters most.
