[Saba Sports News] In the 2025 F1 season, Red Bull encountered setbacks after introducing the major technical directive update TD018. TD018 relates to the deformable rear wing, introduced during the Spanish Grand Prix (9th round) of the 2025 season. It includes more specific and stringent front wing static load tests, reducing the allowed deflection from 15 millimeters to 10 millimeters during static load testing and reducing the allowable bending of the front wing flap from 5 millimeters to 3 millimeters. However, after the update and implementation of this technical directive, its impact on the F1 circuit was minimal, failing to weaken McLaren’s advantage. This underwhelming performance disappointed outside media, as it did not achieve Red Bull’s expected results. The editor believes this reflects a lack of continuity and heritage in the team’s technological transmission and ideas, failing to effectively inherit previous successful research approaches and methods, impacting the optimization of car performance.
