[Saba Sports News] In the UEFA Nations League final, Portugal won the championship after defeating Spain in a penalty shootout, while Spanish striker Alvaro Morata missed his penalty attempt, ultimately leading to Spain losing 3-5 on penalties and missing out on the title. After the match, Morata and his family received numerous death threats. Morata’s wife publicly shared screenshots of private messages from their social media accounts, all of which were examples of online harassment. This caused them immense pain. The editor believes that the outcome of a football match is influenced by many factors, and it is unreasonable to attribute all the blame for the loss solely to Morata. Although fans’ love for their team and desire for victory are understandable, expressing emotions through death threats is unacceptable, as it not only causes significant psychological harm to the player and his family but also goes against the spirit of fairness, friendship, and respect promoted in football.
