[Saba Sports News] A wild rumor recently made the rounds regarding Michael Jordan’s potential salary with NBC Sports—but it’s already been debunked.
Speculation online claimed that NBC had offered Jordan up to $40 million to join its NBA coverage as a special contributor for next season. The figure gained traction after being mentioned by Patrick Bet-David on his “PBD” podcast.
Had that number been accurate, Jordan would instantly become the highest-paid personality in NBA media—surpassing even Charles Barkley. However, Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports reported on Monday that the $40 million figure is not true, though Jordan’s actual salary remains undisclosed.
It’s also still unclear what Jordan’s exact role with NBC will be. Reports suggest he may appear primarily in pre-recorded segments rather than serving as a regular studio analyst. That’s still a notable shift for someone who has largely avoided the media spotlight since retiring from the NBA.
Jordan’s decision to take on a media role surprised many, and while a lucrative paycheck may be one motivating factor, it doesn’t appear to be quite as massive as initial rumors implied.
