[Saba Sports News] Chennai Super Kings’ new addition, Rachin Ravindra, has been making headlines with his recent performances. The 24-year-old standout player from New Zealand shone in the ODI World Cup 2023 and was subsequently snapped up by the five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings for the 2024 season.
Ravindra’s impressive World Cup run, scoring 578 runs in 10 matches, garnered significant attention, making him one of the top run-scorers. His performance ignited a bidding war at the IPL 2024 auction, with CSK securing him for INR 1.8 crore, outbidding teams like Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals.
CSK, the defending champions, are optimistic about Ravindra’s potential impact in his debut IPL season. A recent social media video showed Ravindra signing an autograph for a CSK fan in New Zealand, highlighting his growing popularity.
CSK, eyeing their sixth IPL title, was proactive in the auction, adding several New Zealand players to their roster, including Daryl Mitchell and Ravindra, alongside their existing star, Devon Conway.
Under MS Dhoni’s leadership, CSK equaled Mumbai Indians’ record of five IPL titles by winning the 2023 final against Gujarat Titans. The team is gearing up for the 17th IPL edition, aiming to secure their sixth title with a strong squad comprising Dhoni, Moeen Ali, Deepak Chahar, Devon Conway, and others.
