[Saba Sports News] The 2025 NBA Draft has officially wrapped up — but many fans felt it dragged on longer than necessary.
Since last year, the NBA has split the draft into a two-night event, with the first round held on Wednesday and the second round on Thursday. The league says the change is meant to give teams time to reset and shine a bigger spotlight on second-round selections.
But for many fans, it’s clearly about one thing: TV ratings. Stretching the event across two nights keeps viewers engaged longer — though not everyone is thrilled about it.
Plenty of fans and analysts believe a two-day draft is excessive, especially when compared to the NFL Draft, which covers seven rounds over three days. With only two rounds in the NBA Draft, many argue it could easily be completed in a single night.
While some teams might benefit from the extra time between rounds, most fans — and likely many front offices — would prefer a faster, more streamlined format.
