[Saba Sports News] After a poor performance throughout the season, the Indonesian badminton team has become the focus of public criticism. The team has only won two titles — the Thailand Masters and the Taipei Open — both of which are 300-level events. In response, Indonesia Badminton Association vice president Taufik Hidayat issued a strong ultimatum to the coaching staff and performance development department, including a clause regarding the demotion of veteran players who have underperformed. At a press conference, Taufik reiterated the responsibilities of the coaching and performance development departments, demanding that they ensure athletes stay on the right track. He stated that previous evaluations focused mainly on coaches, but now the association has waited for six months, nearly seven, and even close to a year. Players should not just chase rankings; after all, the public is looking for championships. Remember, there is no such thing as “runner-up” in the hearts of fans — there is only one champion. Not only the coaching staff and players, but the performance development department will also be subject to evaluation, and must take responsibility for the current performance of Indonesian badminton. This is an ultimatum, demanding that the performance development department fulfill its promises soon. According to the new rules, the association does not need to wait until the end of the year to make changes. Therefore, there will be personnel adjustments (promotions or demotions), and everyone is watching.
