[Saba Sports News] Indonesian Olympic men’s singles champion Taufik Hidayat and former world number one from Japan, Kento Momota, will attend the centennial celebration dinner of the Penang Badminton Association on November 22. They will join Malaysia’s legendary player Lee Chong Wei and other badminton stars to witness this historic moment. According to reports, the Penang Badminton Association is the oldest badminton association in Malaysia. To celebrate its 100th anniversary, the event will invite multiple Olympic and world champions, including Lee Chong Wei, Taufik Hidayat, and Kento Momota, as well as Indonesia’s famous doubles pair “The Dad” Hendra Setiawan and Mohammad Ahsan. The Singapore Badminton Association has also confirmed that 20 people will attend, including world champion Loh Kean Yew and his brother Loh Kean Hean. The president of the Penang Badminton Association revealed to the online media SCOOP that most of the invited badminton stars have confirmed their participation, and they are still waiting for confirmation from Tai Tzu-Ying, the former women’s number one from Taiwan. According to records, the Penang Badminton Association was founded in 1925, before the establishment of the Malaysian Badminton Association and the Badminton World Federation in 1934. Over the years, the Penang Badminton Association has nurtured many outstanding players for Malaysia, including Ooi Teik Hock, Datuk Eddy Choong Ewe Beng, Tan Aik Huang, Datuk Teh Kew San, and Lee Chong Wei.
