[Saba Sports News] The highly anticipated 2025 Macau Badminton Open is set to take place from July 29 to August 3. To ensure a smooth tournament, Ma Kam Mei, President of the Macau Badminton Association, led a traditional blessing ceremony last week alongside committee members and staff. This ritual highlights Macau‘s unique event culture and deep commitment to the competition, promising top-tier hospitality for global players and fans. For the organizers, the ceremony is more than just a religious tradition—it‘s a gesture of gratitude and reverence. Through prayers and offerings, they seek divine protection for the event‘s success. Photos reveal an altar set up at the venue, adorned with deity statues, roasted suckling pig (symbolizing prosperity), whole chicken, fruits, vegetables, and incense. At the auspicious hour, drums sounded, lion dancers performed the eye-dotting ritual, and officials paid respects at the altar. From our perspective, such rituals not only ward off misfortune but also strengthen public engagement with the tournament.
